織り、ほどき、もう一度織る、独自の「板締め絣」。
色と色が交差し溶け入る美しいグラデーション。

国画会会員の池田リサさんの作品の特徴は、その絣模様の美しさ。柳悦博氏に師事され、独自に考案された「板締め絣」技法により空間性あふれる作品を創作されています。糸作りからこだわり、ご自身で精錬した絹の経糸と綿の緯糸でいったん仮織りし、その生地を型を彫り込んだ板で締め合わせ染料に浸し染色。染め上がりをほどき、経糸のみ取り出してずらしたり反転させてりして整経し、もう一度織り上げます。丁寧に糸づくりされた絹の光沢に草木染料の透んだ色彩が染まり絣模様となって完成した作品は神々しいばかりの美しさを放っています。

Tsumugi Weave


The gentle transition from one color to another, the beauty of kasuri is a characteristic of Lisa Ikeda's work. 

Ikeda creates works using her own "itajime-gasuri" technique.

She begins by weaving a tentative fabric with a silk warp, and a cotton weft. This fabric is then clamped with wooden boards and dyed. The boards are removed and the fabric is then unraveled, with the cotton threads being discarded. This leaves threads which transition from one color to another. Once rewoven with a silk weft, patterns with soft edges appear on the surface of the fabric.

Carefully chosen threads of different denier are dyed various shades of muted colors using traditional plant based dyes, woven together to create striking yet gentle works.
